Fuel | Jerry Cans and Stations

A survival fuel system with no pay at the pump. Every vehicle runs a real fuel type and burns it the way it actually drives. To fill a can you siphon parked cars, search roadside wrecks, or tap a dead gas station before someone else gets there first.

Overview

Most fuel scripts are just a price tag on a pump. ml_fuel takes the pump away and turns fuel into something players have to go and find. Every vehicle runs a fuel type, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, or types you add yourself, set by vehicle class or per model. It burns that fuel based on how the car actually drives: mass, drivetrain, top speed, the weather, and a damaged tank that leaks faster. Tank size comes from the same data, so a tiny hatchback and a dump truck no longer pretend to hold the same sixty liters.

The jerry can is the centre of it. It is a real object that carries its own contents. The fuel type and the liters inside live on the can, show up in its tooltip, and the can itself never disappears. It just gets emptied and refilled. Diesel stays diesel, and pour it into a gasoline car and the car refuses it. Filling a can means earning it. Siphon a parked vehicle with a hose before the owner comes back, comb wrecked cars on the roadside, or hook an electric pump to an abandoned gas station.

Stations are the loop that keeps players on the move. Out of all the locations placed on the map, only a rotating subset are live at any moment, and each live station holds a limited number of draws before it runs dry. No crew can sit on one spot and farm it. A skill check guards every scavenge, and a fumbled attempt can ping the police with a coded call and a blip on the spot. Staff can light up the active stations with one command.

There is more on top. One use fuel bottles for a lighter economy. Tank expansions that bolt extra liters onto a plate for good. Conversion kits that switch a vehicle to another fuel type and remember it across restarts. And a full electric lane: electric vehicles are recognised on their own, charging stations you place carry their own power reserve, and portable power cells let you carry a charge, including a solar one that tops itself back up in the sun.

The same can works everywhere on your server. The same can fuels your base building generators straight from the same hold to pour panel, and anything else on your server that runs on fuel. A driving fuel gauge in three styles, the hold to pour transfer panel, per action Discord logs and admin tools finish it off.

Works on ESX, QBCore, Qbox, ox_core or no framework at all, and on the inventory you already run. Refillable jerry cans need an inventory that keeps item data, which every common one does. On an inventory that does not, it starts in simple mode on its own, with one-use fuel items instead of refillable cans.

• No pay at the pump, fuel is scavenged
• Driving fuel gauge in three HUD styles
• Skill checks on every scavenge, with multiple difficulty steps

Key Features

Typed Fuel, Real Consumption

Gasoline, diesel, kerosene and your own types, set per class or per model. Drain follows the vehicle's mass, speed, drivetrain, the weather, and a leaking tank when it is damaged. Tank size is pulled from vehicle mass too. A hatchback and a dump truck stop pretending to share one tank.

Typed Fuel, Real Consumption

Jerry Cans That Hold Real Fuel

The fuel type and the liters live on the can and show in its tooltip. Cans refill instead of vanishing, and they refuse the wrong fuel until you empty them first.

Jerry Cans That Hold Real Fuel

Gas Station Scavenging

Only a rotating set of stations is live, each with a limited number of draws. Hook up an electric pump, pass the skill check, and take whatever the pump still holds.

Gas Station Scavenging

Siphoning and Wreck Searching

Drain parked vehicles with a hose or comb roadside wrecks for leftover liters. Cooldowns, protected vehicles and no-loot zones keep it from being abused.

Botched Scavenge Calls the Cops

Every scavenge can demand a skill check, and a fumbled attempt can alert the police with a coded call and a blip dropped on your location. The skill check plugs into your existing minigame system, with easy through extreme difficulty steps.

Tank Upgrades and Fuel Conversions

Bolt extra capacity onto a plate, or convert a vehicle to a different fuel type. Both stick to the vehicle and survive a restart.

Electric Vehicles Included

Electric cars are spotted on their own. Charging stations carry their own power reserve, and portable power cells let you carry a charge, including a solar one that refills in the sun.

One Panel For Every Refuel

One panel handles refueling, siphoning and generators. The flow ramps up while you hold the button, with live levels shown on both tanks.

One Can, Whole Server

The same jerry can fuels your base building generators and anything else that runs on fuel.

Idle Engines Keep Burning

A car left idling with the engine on keeps burning fuel even with nobody in the seat. Leave a hot-wired getaway car running and it drains itself dry.
